Tofu Rotli

This is my masi’s ‘healthier’ rotli recipe that incorporates tofu for a protein boost and flaxseed powder for added fiber and healthy fats.

Servings: 24 rotlis

Ingredients:

  • 1 package of tofu (soft, medium or firm)

  • ½ cup water

  • 3 cups wheat flour

  • 3 tbsp flaxseed powder

  • 2 tsp salt

  • 1-2 tsp oil

Directions:

  1. Strain liquid from the tofu packaging (don’t need to press it)

  2. Add chinks of tofu at a time to a Vitamix or high power blender and blend until completely smooth 

  3. Mix flours and salt in a bowl and add blended tofu 

  4. Mix by hand or using a stand mixer to form a firm dough and add oil at the end to smooth is out

  5. Form dough into pieces (golf ball size)

  6. Roll it out into circular shape (or as close as you can)

  7. Heat a flat pan on medium high heat

  8. Cook the rotli on each side until dough looks cooked (~20 seconds on each side)

  9. Remove from the pan and let the rotli puff on the open flame (or on a racked cooking pan - similar to a wire steaming rack)

  10. Repeat with all the dough balls 

  11. Serve hot and enjoy!
