Black Eyed Peas Dal
This is another quick Instant Pol dal recipe that’s delicious, nutritious and perfect for a weeknight meal.
Servings: 3
Ingredients:
1 tbsp oil
½ tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
pinch of hing
½ onion, finely diced
¾ tsp salt
1 tsp chili powder
¼ tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp coriander powder
½ tsp garam masala
1 tsp minced garlic
1 tsp minced ginger
2 tbsp coconut powder
2 Roma tomatoes, finely diced
1 cup black eyed peas
3¼ cups water
¼ cup chopped cilantro
Directions:
Turn instant pot on sauté mode and add oil, mustard seeds, cumin seeds and hing
Let that sauté for 1 minute then add in onions
Let that sauté until translucent then add in spices, ginger and garlic
Let that cook for 3-4 minutes then add in tomatoes, black eyed peas and water
Turn off sauté mode, close the lid and pressure cook for 20 minutes
Let it vent naturally and once fully vented open the instant pot and mix the dal well
Top with cilantro and enjoy!
